A registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Ysabelle trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Ballet School in London and as a teacher at the RAD, gaining both a Professional Dancer's Teaching Diploma with Distinction, and a first-class honours Bachelor degree in Ballet and Contextual Studies.
Ysabelle brings a wealth of experience to her passion for dance having enjoyed a varied performing career with the Royal Swedish Ballet, Düsseldorf Ballet, Dublin City Ballet and Scapino Ballet (Holland). Her roles included Odette in "Swan Lake", Swanhilda in "Coppélia", the sugar plum fairy in "Nutcracker" and solo roles in ballets by internationally reknowned choreographers such as John Neumeier, Jiri Kylian and John Cranko. As a choreographer she has received commissions from the Royal Ballet Education Unit, UK Ballet Companies, and London Dance Colleges. She was awarded a prize for choreography at the International Ballet Competition in Helsinki. She also created and toured two full length one woman shows as well as taking part in independent performances in London. The latter included dancing an Argentine Tango with Anton du Beke before he was famous!
Since qualifying as a Ballet Teacher in 1987 Ysabelle has taught at many London colleges, and has been a freelance tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance from 1994 teaching worldwide during school holidays tutoring both students and teachers. Assignments for the RAD have taken her to far flung destinations such as Canada, Singapore, Japan, Athens, Paris, and Madrid as well as London and around the UK.
In 1990 she started her Ballet School in Beckenham nurturing a future generation of dancers and dance enthusiasts. Ex-pupils have attended dance colleges, gained dance degrees and continued into the dance profession.
Ysabelle Taylor's unusually rich professional background gives her a unique approach to teaching, with an appreciation of the challenges of Ballet for dancers of different ages and abilities, to all of whom she aims to instill a strong discipline of dance whilst enjoying the context of theatricality and the stage. She is supported by fully qualified assistant teachers.
